Introducing an interdisciplinary design collaboration between Varier and Ingrid Bredholt, where a selection of Norwegian design icons are given new life using innovative materials presented in new contexts. Working without the constraints of complying to traditional ideas of what a chair is supposed to be, the collaboration transcends the borders between art, fashion and furniture. Curated to reflect tendencies found in society at large, ideas on sustainability and conscious consumerism are expressed through two supporting collections of art pieces and ready to use furniture.
A result of Bredholt’s imagination, the art pieces are obtained through untraditional application of unrefined and raw materials. The ready to use pieces act as a continuum of the Bredholt’s creative exploration and feature textile woven in special cooperation with Kvadrat (DK).
Inspired by naturally occurring forms and patterns, the collection aims to portray materials in their inherent state, where each piece of furniture is different from the next. By going back to where it all started, FUTURE HOLDS represents contemporary modern classics for a new generation of increasingly conscious consumers.
The first glimpse of the collaboration will be shown at FUSHION in Oslo, a three day festival open to the public from the 28th to the 30th of August, whilst launch of the entire collection will take place in Oslo later this year.
