Living with Varier

We visited three inspiring individuals who have lived with our chairs over time. In different homes and lives, they have become part of everyday routines, each connected to the design in their own way.

Janne Reitan

On a small street in Rodeløkka, Oslo, stands the house where Janne Reitan lived with Terje Ekstrøm. She still lives there, now in a smaller apartment with bright pink walls, a contrast to the natural pine interiors they once shared . Through her memories, a portrait emerges of the man behind the Ekstrem™ chair. “Creative,” she says. “In everything.”

Hilde Angelfoss

For Hilde Angelfoss, design has never been just about how something looks. It’s about what it does, how it shapes the way we live, move, and interact, often without us even noticing. Over the years, she has worked across the full spectrum of design - from workshop to industry, from product development to teaching. But the core has remained the same: a curiosity for how things are made, and what they do once they leave the drawing board and enter everyday life.

Thien An Van

On a small farm outside Oslo, Thien lives with the objects he has spent nearly a decade working with. What began as a job has gradually become part of how he lives. As a product designer at the Opsvik Studio, he worked closely with Peter Opsvik in his later years, and continues to carry his ideas forward, not only through his work, but as part of his everyday life at home.
